Purpose of the course
The course aims to provide all the information and resources to assist mechanical and electrical engineers, technicians, and artisans register as Candidate and Professional Certificated Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
The course may benefit persons pursuing or with the Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) in the following:
- Electrical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency issued i.t.o. the Mines Health and Safety Act (MH&S Act)
- Mechanical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency issued i.t.o. the MH&S Act
- Electrical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency issued i.t.o. the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&S Act)
- Mechanical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency issued i.t.o. the OH&S Act
- Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous) issued i.t.o. the MH&S Act
- Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Coal) issued i.t.o. the MH&S Act
- Chief Engineer Officer – Foreign Going Certificate of Competency issued i.t.o. the Merchant Shipping Act (MS Act)
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, you will:
- Legal Context: Learn the legal context for Certificated Engineer registration. The legal context will help you appreciate the legal obligations and implications of registering as a Certificated Engineer.
- Candidate registration: Decide if you need to register as a Candidate Certificated Engineer and complete the registration documentation.
